PRE-FAIR REQUIREMENTS FOR 4-H AND FFA MEMBERS

Dates, times, locations, and so forth are subject to change. See your County Fair and 4-H Newsletters, club-provided information, and emails for updated information.

NOTE: As of 3/19/2024 RDO for the Dog Project has been deleted and the Air Pistol qualifying matches under Shooting Sports have been updated.

In addition to being enrolled in the project by March 1, 2024, 4-H members participating in the Shooting Sports Contests, Horse Show, and Dog Show must meet the additional requirements. Scroll down for the complete listings:

Dog Show Eligibility Requirements

Dog ID must be completed in 4-H Online by May 1, 2024, for every dog that will be competing in the show.
Member must successfully complete the Responsible Dog Owner training.
Member must successfully pass a written test.
May 1, 2024, Dog ID must be uploaded in 4-H Online
County Fair Dog Show Test — the dates will be published when the Dog Show Rules are approved. You will be able to find study guides here: https://co4h.colostate.edu/program-areas/state-fair-information/

Horse Show Eligibility Requirements

For 4-H Members: Horse ID must be completed in 4-H Online by May 1, 2024
For FFA Members: Horse ID must be received in the Extension Office by 5:00 p.m. on May 1, 2024
Beginner 4-H level members must complete a Safety Training.
March 23, 2024, Horse Safety Clinic, Horse Arena, Colorado State Fairgrounds. See Pueblo County Fair Rules for details about who is required to attend.
May 1, 2024, Horse ID Must be Uploaded in to 4HOnline
May 1, 2024, Horse Lease Agreements Due

Shooting Sports Contest Eligibility Requirements:

Member must have a Hunter Safety Card uploaded into 4-H Online.
Member must have successfully participated in a Qualifying Match for each of the disciplines in which they participate.
Member must have attended a County-Sponsored safety training.

Qualifying Matches
Every shooting sports member who plans on competing in the County Shoot MUST participate in a least one county sanctioned qualifying match, in each discipline in which they are registered, prior to the County Fair Shoot.
